Design

Since August of 2024, I have been the Lead Motion Design Artist at Overactive Media’s Toronto office. OAM is a leading international esports organization, and in my role there I have primarily worked with their professional Call of Duty team “Toronto Ultra”.

I’ve had the opportunity to work on so many fun projects combining 3D design and animation, motion graphics, compositing, video editing, illustration and logo design, and both physical and voice acting. Here are a few of my favourite projects.

Toronto Ultra
"Hype" Video 2025

A fast-paced, high-impact video created to energize fans ahead of the 2025 Call of Duty League season. This video would air during Call of Duty League Broadcasts and during walk-outs at live stadium tournaments.

What I Worked On

  • Recreated part of downtown Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway in Blender.

  • Animated a fast paced scene driving down The Gardiner, including a CGI version of Toronto Ultra’s mascot “Tilt” driving the car, and an alleyway explosion (because who doesn’t love explosions?).

  • Worked closely with videographer to make sure that green screen and other VFX shots were filmed properly for future compositing.

  • Composited green screen and rotoscoped footage of the Toronto Ultra players onto a CGI rooftop of Toronto’s CN Tower.

  • Animated the endslate partner lockup.

Optimizing the flow of the car chase scene, with simple stand-in assets to speed up render times.

Call of Duty LEague Championship "Reveal" Video 2025

2025 marked the first time in Call of Duty League franchise history that the CDL Championship was to be held in Canada. We created this announcement video to air during broadcast of regular season play, and to build excitement for the upcoming tournament.

What I Worked On

  • Worked closely with videographer when filming green screen footage to ensure that blocking and camera angles would work when compositing.

  • Composited Jamie “Insight” into a backlit stage with several other Toronto Ultra Operators.

  • Composited Ultra’s mascot Tilt onto the stage of a “live” esports stage.

  • 3D modeled and rendered the aforementioned “live” esports stage in Blender 3D.

Ultra Elite “How To” Video

Ultra Elite was the official loyalty program of Toronto Ultra. It launched in early 2025 and I was given the task of creating an explainer video for fans. Originally I had planned to use human actors, but in an attempt to make the shoot day go smoother, I created an animatic of the scene blocking for reference. My coworkers liked the animatic so much that they asked me to just animate the whole video instead of filming.

What I worked On

  • Remapped the UV textures of the Ultra “Operators”.

  • Scripted and storyboarded video.

  • Built out the digital “sets”.

  • Modeled and textured assets like the room and time bomb.

  • Animated the characters and camera movements.

  • Voice acted the “Drill Sergeant” character.

  • Mixed the audio in Adobe Premiere.

Valentine’s Day e-cards

Ok, mostly I wanted to test out my animation rig that I’d set up on these 3D Toronto Ultra Operator Skin models. So, I made these Valentine’s day e-cards to be sent out with our February Toronto Ultra news letters.
