Longslice Brewery Brand Refresh 2024
Design Brief
Longslice launched in 2014 with their Hopsta La Vista IPA. At the time this was their only beer and so the design focused mainly on the beer brand and not on the Longslice parent brand. As time went on, design systems were developed to address this issue, however designs had to be retrofit into the new systems, and new printing technology meant newer brands could take advantage of the flexibility of digital printing while older brands were stuck looking... old.
The 2024 brand refresh creates a consistent and cohesive design hierarchy across all of the Longslice products and much better reflects Longslice Brewery’s fun, tongue-in-cheek playfulness. Each beer features a cartoon mascot associated with the brand, and contribute to the Longslice Can Universe or LCU.
WHAT I WORKED ON
Created a codesive design system that works accross all Longslice beer varieties.
Illustrated characters for each beer using ProCreate and the Adobe Suite.
Copywriting for each beer character’s backstory.
Ensuring each can meets Canadian and Ontario label standards for packaged alcohol.
Designed tertiary elements such as the Beer-O-Metric Scanner, Longslice Seal of Quality, and the Core / One-Off Icons.

Princess Clementine
Lady Clementina— Third lady of the house of clementine, heiress to the throne of Citromania; Princess clementine, as she is commonly referred to, is a master martial artist and protector of the realm.
This beer, brewed with the Crown Jewels of the Citrus World, is sour and effervescent, with notes of mimosas and fresh squeezed Orange Juice!

“El Gato Gordo” is an illicit hops trafficker and Longslice Brewery’s arch nemesis. In order to fulfill his evil plans, He and his team of elite paramilitary guerrilla warriors are constantly trying to steal the brewing secrets that make Hopsta La Vista IPA so delicious.
so far Longslice has thwarted his attempts at stealing the recipe of this multi-award winning, full flavoured IPA... But for how long?

Sky Bison
Half Human, Half Bison... all pilot! Capt Biff A. Lowe is the best of the best! an experimental test pilot, he belongs to The elite Aeronautical Aces Navigation guild, better known as “A.A.N.G.”.
The only thing Biff loves more than flying supersonic jets is an ice cold Longslice Brewery Sky bison! Crisp, crushable, and lightly hoppy, It’s a great beer for any time!

Loose Lips
Lt. Lou Slipps is a real fricken blabber-mouth. On his last mission, Lou let slip to the skip of another ship that his galley was stocked with Loose Lips. It Turns out they were pirates, so they raided the fridge, stole all the draught, and set Lou adrift on a raft.
But Who could blame them? Loose Lips is a gold medal winning lager brewed with premium Vienna malt, giving the beer its unique copper colour and distinctive taste!

Princess Margarita
Maggie of House Lima— One of the many warrior princesses of The Kingdom of Citromania-- Princess Margarita is known among her peers as “the Luminary of Lime”. Although more rebellious than her cousin Princess Clementine, She is unmatched in lime-based martial arts.
Brewed with the refreshing flavours of lime and sea salt, this beer Reflects her zesty attitude and citrus charge!

Little Hop of Horrors
One fateful night, we purchased a small hop bine from a mysterious brewery supply shop. In an attempt to create the ultimate hop, we watered the plant with delicious Longslice beer. The events of what happened next defy belief!
The plant grew bigger and bigger, as did its insatiable thirst for beer. We're brewing as much as we can, but Hoprey II (as it calls itself) keeps drinking everything we make… if you're reading this, please send help!

Klondike Clarke
This here is a nice simple pilsner brewed with premium Canadian 2-row barley malt. Inspired by the Yukon Territory, it comes on clean, crisp, and refreshing!
Its hue is gold, it’s fermented cold, and it’s filtered crystal clear. One sip of Klondike Clarke Golden Pils will have you saying, “Dam! That’s a regular beer!”.
